Holidays and farewells and meat...
Not as many wildlife pics this week as we took several days off and have still been having a hard time finding our troop of baboons. There are a few of some one week old warthog babies that were orphaned and are being taken care of by one of the families on the reserve. Very cute but a nasty bite they have. The ugly bird you see is an eleven day old ground hornbill chick. The hornbills will have two chicks and usually the second dies so the same family is going to hand raise it. Also say eight giraffes a few nights ago, including what looked like a very old, very large, very syphilitic male. Very cool stuff but didn’t have my camera on me unfortunately. Saw a green mamba this morning outside the shower hut which was very exciting and terrifying. No they don’t really chase you; they are just extremely vibrationally sensitive so if you fuck with them they get pissed off easier. Loads of random pictures of myself, which seems strange, but I was drunk for a portion of them and felt the need to document that I was actually in south Africa. I still feel the need to pinch myself occasionally. Can’t believe I have already been here for nearly two months and feel like the time is going too quickly. Pretty sure I am returning in early to mid April, a little earlier than initially anticipated and probably wanted but too early to worry of such things. This past weekend was loads of fun (as Neil heard via drunken phone call). Spook, Dale and I- along with some of Spook’s friends from Uni-went to see one of the most popular South African rock bands the Springbok Nude Girls. Did a bit of shopping-at record stores mostly- and even got to try out an Ethiopian restaurant in a faction of Joberg. Very nice to get out of the rural country area and see some of the city life. Had to take some pics of both of Spooks going away Braii’s where you can see many of them eating meat-which still fascinates me to an extent. Very sad he is leaving but he will join Jamina and I in Cape Town which I am looking forward to very much.
Ass Assassin- Congrats on the May grad, glad you are happy. And yes, that ridiculous forward was pretty dead on.
Henley-got your package but unable to use as of yet-sent J an email about it. Thanks for all of it and your note card was so hilarious I put it up on my wall. Loved the pics as well. Miss you guys terribly, but not too terribly.

wow. thats all i can say. it seems like such a wonderful place and im super jelous. i guess i just have a void with you not being around. i could use your counsel and your shoulder in many ways. i just miss you like hell. anyways that guy of yours seems cool just tell him i said his musical preference is for the birds. i like the pics. weve got a ton here since you left(parties,shows,porn etc.)so ill have to send em. anyway i love you sis like the dung beetle loves excriment and if you end up moving to s.a. i understand ill just have to move there too and you know how much i hate flying. p.s. thanks for telling everyone im afraid of storms, now i sound like a pussy.

crap, dude. i went to the co-op to get some food to take to lil j in the hospital. it was all closed down. i had a panicky moment were i truly believed that they had gone out of business due to losing you as a customer. luckily, i called your big sis and she told me their new location. anyway, you need to hurry back. i had a drunken adventure last night that would have been even better with you. it involved awesome bands, vegan burritos, nearly-naked men wrestling, and a car accident (happily, not me or my friends but some drunken asshole and a curb!) and i successful snagged a free cd from a band and booked another band to play at my birthday party in exchange for cupcakes! you really should have been there. it was a gloriously random night. glad you finally got the care package, too bad you can't use it yet. let me know what you want for a winter solstice gift, otherwise i'm sending beef jerky! take care and i hope you find your baboons soon.

Nice to see more pictures of you. Awesome to hear that you're having a grand time. School is very close to its 1st semester end, and I have mixed feelings about this event. Thanksgiving will be with the family, so all is bright for the next week. Hope you're still having the time of your life...but you better get your motherfuckin' ass back here pronto.

where the hell is this week's post? i depend on them to get me through these hellish fridays. lucky for me i'm going to casbah teahouse and then out to the bars! that improves the day some as well! but you better post some new pictures and let me know what's up with you. have you used the contents of your care package yet?
