Warning-Graphic Pictures

Had to post one of the pics that I took of the rhino-not for the meek
Things are getting more and more interesting out here in the bushlands. Have spent potentially more time than I need with local Afrikaaners as many of them are more unabidingly racist. Not all-but many. I also find it disturbing that because I am also white many feel that I share their prejudices. It is still a very us and them country here-but I am in a very rural area and I suspect that precipitates that. I am sure that in places like Joberg and Cape Town you can’t get away with the same indiscretions.
Next weekend I will be going on vacation for the weekend. Laura is flying down to Cape Town to see Miss Amy for a much needed break-and pedicure. Spook and I are going to do a bit of traveling near some of the beaches but as I haven’t been shown where we are going on a map I am unsure of where I will actually be taking this holiday. I am ecstatic to get out and do a little bit of traveling-and Spook is from SA so he is the best kind of guide-hopefully. At least he won’t nearly run head on into a police car while driving down the wrong side of the road-not that I know anyone who has done that.
The days are getting extremely hot and sunny and I haven’t had this bad of a tan line since the old Tan-Tar-A days with Sam on the docks. There is a resort very close that we are allowed free access to that has several very nice pools so I have been spending many afternoons there. Last night we had a beautiful and BIG storm that knocked down road signs and knocked out the power for most of the night-but I haven’t seen a storm like that in years (or ever) so it was lovely. Neil you would have loved it-or shit yourself.
Some people are having a Halloween braii(party/barbeque) tomorrow and L and I are going as beer bandits-thanks to all of you for your outcry of ideas and suggestions though. Doesn’t feel quite the same though seeing as how it is so damn hot.
Will hopefully get a chance to write next week before I take L to the airport-but if not I will make up for it with pictures of beaches hopefully! Thank you to my few but steadfast readers/posters-all my love for you guys.
Sean-wicked burn-but the party this week will make up for it-drink a beer and let the sorrows drown away….
Thierra-sorry I missed your call-best for you to call mid morningish time. I wish I were there but know that you have all my support from across the waters. Have a blast this weekend and send me some pics.I will try to call you today or tomorrow
Brotherman-keep it real and keep on keeping on
J-will also try to call you-very late for an appt so no time to write you an email
Henley-Thanks for the package and the “goods”….Have J fill you in with the deets after I talk to her.

First, fantastic picture of a (is that a kudu?), and those look like some big-ass monitors... what kind? Any pics you have of the animals, and well, anything, really, are great. I'd like to see a couple more of you, though. Then again, maybe not. I haven't checked on your blog much because I knew it would remind me of you, and I thought that would make me miss you too much. I don't need anything too depressing right now, since I seem to be in the midst of some serious transition period. So, I'm putting off the blogging as much as I can, but I feel like it's important that you know I'm still around and checking in on you from time to time. Still uncomfortably jobless, and there aren't any prospects on the horizon just yet. On top of that, I put in over 40 at the zoo this week, and next week will be close to it, so I know I'll be taking that zoo-whore award from you this year. It's all for naught, however, because it just isn't enough to cover these mutha-fuckin' student loans!!! No worries though... gonna find a job some day. Pre-halloween parties were a blast... went as a crash test dummy... it kicked ass, and I can't wait to dawn it on Mill Ave. on Tuesday. Hope the beer bandit worked out well... what the hell is a beer bandit anyway? I've been volunteering a little at the zoo as a keeper again, and had some interesting experience since. Wrassled with all of the Savannah vultures to take off their primaries and take blood. Caused at least one code-blue, which was damn exciting, but alas, we weren't treed by any of the animals. The giraffe tree house is gone, and a new platform is in its place. You won't recognize it. Also have some stingrays coming in, both freshwater and saltwater. The salties will be in a touch tank for zoolights. There is also a new koi tank that Williamson brain-childed (is that a word?). Everyone is curious if the raccoons that are taking the bearded dragons will also take the koi... should be an intersting experiment in futility, but we shouldn't expect much else at the zoo. Went to the grand canyon with Amy and her fam last weekend. It was a blast... saw wild javelina, coyote, mule deer and desert bighorn ship, as well as lots of birds - no condors, though. Camped outside of the park and nearly froze our asses off (just about freezing outside at that point). I'm getting excited about snow, and I think we'll try and go snowboarding this year at least a couple of times. I'm sure I have other things to say, but I can't think of them right now, so I'll save them for another time, as I'm sure you're well aware. Keep your chin up, keep your updates up, and if L takes off running, make sure you keep up! And, just in case you missed it, YAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Hey Shannon

I went to the farmer's market they have on campus last friday. A lady there was selling tamales. She had the meat kind, but also different vegetarian kind AND a vegan kind. So when you get back, we can eat vegan tamales and be merry! I visited Lil J this past weekend in Flag. God, I miss Flag. But Lil J and I had fun and ate a delicious lunch at Moutain Oasis before I headed back to Tucson. Things are well in Tucson, besides the fact that I'm broke as a joke, poor as a whore. Stripping may soon be an option...

Hope you have a great Halloween! And enjoy your vacation to the beaches. Try to even out those tan lines while you're there!
