Oh the stories I will have

It has been an eventful week-got to go out on a boat and saw loads of wildlife (your rhino pics Henley, enjoy). Ran into more of the buffalo herd that evidentially is out because they broke out of the enclosure that they were being kept in for medical treatment. They are spending much of their time near the baboons sleeping site, so we are very trepidatious most mornings. Also saw my first movie in the theatres here but as our options were snakes on a plane (yes I voted to see that one again Sean), Garfield, or fast and furious Tokyo, we only stayed through the first ten minutes of Tokyo. Went out with another research assistant whom is studying vervets, and a local geologist, to an Irish pub before hand. So the pics of the two guys and I are Dale- the Australian assistant researcher- and Spook (with the black hair). Have a crazy story that can’t possibly be posted of near disaster and the potential of spending the evening in a South African jail, but you will all have to wait to hear it in person-I am also not quite over the fact that I am a drunken ass so I don’t wanna think about it right now. Also apparently told Dale while in my drunken stupor-who worked at a gym back in Aussie-that I would run and swim with him. Fear he may have me on some kind of workout routine already. L and I made an all vegan dinner for Albert (kind of the reserve manager-very very kind man with two adorable boys), Spook (the geologist), and Dale. Attempted homemade falafel, taboule, roasted red pepper hummus, and apple crisp. Turned out well and everyone enjoyed it (I think anyways), though the boys had doubts all week as meat is a huge thing for the people out here. Trying to show them why I am actually not starving and vegan food is delicious-much like I do in the states. We also had another welcoming braii (barbeque) last night for me and I got to meet many of the people who work around the reserve. Had Charles- a game ranch manager-try to teach L and I to dance the way SAfricans dance, all the while being serenaded by superdude(dales drunk alias) and all the rest of the men. It is nice having lots of musicians around here, and I will bring home a cd of spooks-he is amazing. Sorry about grammatical errors, not much sleep and still feeling the effects of the wine from previous evening. Well, pics say more than words so here they are…

I love the photo of the rhinos! Makes my day so much better to see them! Try not to go to prison. I only promised to wire money if you got tetanus, not if you went to a South African pound you in the ass prison. Glad to see you're having drunken fun though.
Shannon! There are boys in South Africa!!! I knew you would find some play mates! Hee Hee! The machine will be so proud!

Hello primate creature. Sorry I failed to make the last post. I've been busier than the Devil, and he's pretty fuckin busy. Those pictures are picturesque. It looks and sounds like you're having a Kodak moment every day you're there. I actually brag about you whenever I have the chance...no joke...my zoo friends are THE SHIT!!! I look forward to hearing your tales. I'm most proud of you for supporting the motherfuckin' snakes, even though that was one of the worst movies I've seen...ever. Nothing but pain and misfortune are in my life right now. The other day some asshole stole the seat to my bike, which probably wouldn't be much of a problem if my goddamn car didn't break down the week before...and because the zoo has been pretty busy, I've been riding my bike to work without being able to rest my ass...although your wonderful sister and several other zoo buddies have been incredibly kind enough to give me a ride back to my dorm at night for fear that I might be taken advantage of "Deliverance"-style by backwoodsmen in the dark. Amidst all this hardship, though, there is hope for the future that I may study abroad next year...I'm having trouble deciding between Tanzania and Brazil...that'd be BANANAS!! I'm trying not to get too excited about it right now so that I don't set myself up for major disappointment. Well that's all I have to say. HAHAHA... bitchola is a fantastic word.
